Panasonic has unveiled two rugged in the Toughpad series at the MWC in Barcelona.It includes the Toughpad FZ-E1 and FZ-X1 both are aimed at the enterprise users looking for smartphone which can even perform in the worst outdoor conditions.
The devices come with MIL-STD-810G military rating which means that the device can resist a drop from a height of 3 meters and can be submerged upto 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes due to it's IP65/68 rating.The company says that the devices can be operated in extreme conditions ranging from -20 degree Celsius to 60 degree Celsius.
Both the devices will be available at a hefty price tag of $1,300 exactly

“We believe there will be a growing market for a small-sized tablet that has phone functions.That would replace having to handle a large tablet and a phone separately.”-Yasuharu Enda, a spokesman for Panasonic System NetworksBoth the rugged smartphones come with 5-inch shock-proof LCD HD displays with resolution 1280 x 720 pixels and can even be operated while wearing gloves,2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage expandable via micro SD card.Both the devices are pretty heavy 430 grams due to their rugged body.They come with a 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash while there is 1.3-megapixel front facing camera.Both the phablets are backed by a 6,200 mAh of battery which charges upto 50% in an hour and give 14 hours of battery life.For connectivity the devices come with 4G LTE and NFC.
“We decided to use Windows Embedded 8 Handheld instead of Windows Phone 8 because it offers more customizability,”-Masaki Mutou, general manager at Panasonic System Networks’ Terminal Systems Business Unit.The Toughpad FZ-E1 runs on Windows 8 Embedded Handheld and is powered by 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor while the Toughpad FZ-X1 runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly-Bean and is powered by 1.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor.
