“In 2013 we introduced the best smartphone in the world, but we never stopped challenging ourselves and the status quo in this category. As pioneers in mobile innovation, we continue to design and build devices that will dazzle, inspire and transform the smartphone industry. Today I’m proud to launch the most stunning, intuitive and advanced handset that the industry has seen to date, the new HTC One (M8).”-Peter Chou, CEO, HTC
HTC has finally taken wraps off it's latest flagship smartphone, the One (M8).The device is the successor to the company's most selling smartphone which is the last year's One (M7).There are lots of new features introduced in the company's latest flagship phone and we will explain them in detail.

Display,Processor and Everything else

The all new One (M8) features a 5-inch Full HD SuperLCD3 display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and has a pixel density of 440 PPI.The screen is protected by a Gorilla Glass 3 cornering. It is powered by 2.3 GHz (U.S/EMEA) or 2.5 GHz (Asia/China) quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor coupled with 2 GB of RAM.It will be available in 16 and 32 GB of internal storage expandable upto 128 GB via micro SD card.To keep the phone alive there is a 2,600 mAh of battery which delivers upto 20 hours of talk-time and 496 hours of standby-time on 3G.

 Design: It's Heavy metal here

The M8 has stunning unibody design that made out of 90% high quality metal and continues the same premium feel as it's predecessor.Despite the brushed metal design it is just 9.35 mm thick and weighs 160 grams. The beautiful and durable unibody design has softer curves for a smooth and natural grip.

Camera: One,Two,Three go!

In 2013,HTC tried to differentiate itself from the megapixel race by putting an Ultrapixel camera in the One.Now in 2014,the company has continued it's tradition by delivering first of it's kind duo camera setup in the M8.The rear camera is a 4-megapixel UltraPixel unit with dual-LED flash which is capable of recording 1080p videos.HTC says that more pixels doesn't matter but larger pixels do.So in order to do that the M8 comes with a 2.0um pixels,1/3-inch sensor, aperture of f/2.0 and a 28mm lens.

On the top of the UltraPixel module is the depth sensor which can capture detailed depth information from a scene and enable a range of beautiful and creative effects for the user.Users can instantly create professional-looking portraits by altering the focus of the image after the photo has been taken with 'UFocus' which is similar to the 'Refocus' feature on the Lumia 1020 or make the subject stand out in a more surprising way by altering the background with creative effects using Foregrounder.Seasons can add a animated seasonal filter to your pics,Copy and Paste  lets you place your family and friends in a different photo entirely while Dimension Plus offers a unique perspective on your photos by letting you view your image from a different angle by simply tilting the screen. The device can also organise photos containing a single subject with a help of visual search tool that intuitively moves all the photos containing a particular subject into one single album.
The company says that the advanced camera technology of the device works behind the scenes right from launch so so that when the shutter is activated, the sharpest possible image is displayed. The camera Autofocus of the M8 operates at speed of 300 milliseconds which results in beautifully crisp images at a split-second action.Just like the iPhone 5s,the intelligent LED Dual Flash on the phone automatically selects the exact colour tone and light intensity for more natural skin tones and a professional-looking shot.Another feature that it borrows from the 5s is the integrated Slow Motion mode, which lets you shoot HD slo-mo video and then edit that video so you can slow down the action at the part you want. And finally the M8 comes with a 5-megapixel front facing camera for 'perfect selfies'.

Software that makes Sense

The device runs on the latest Android 4.4.2 Kit-Kat with Sense 6 UI on the top.The company calls it's software the sixth sense and says that it is the biggest upgrade since Sense debuted.BlinkFeed is now more intuitive, with continuous scrolling for a fluid browsing experience, adaptable tiles and a new layout that presents articles in a clean, easy-to-read way.Users can now more easily find and subscribe to new media sources, in addition to instantly creating custom feeds on any topic. For those don't know,BlinkFeed is your personalized home screen which shows Facebook posts, Twitter feeds, breaking news, sports scores, and a lot more.BlinkFeed has over 1000+ content partners,5.7 million active users and over 1 billion articles have been read on it while 15% more articles were read in January 2014.HTC has said that BlinkFeed will be made available to other Android devices, launching on the Google Play store soon.

HTC says that in 2014, Zoe will be evolved into a cloud based service and users will be able to invite friends to add their own photos, videos and music. The new Zoe app will be available for download through Google Play in the summer.

Another interesting feature of the M8 is the Motion Launch which is able to detect its position and movement with the help of motion sensors and allow user to interact with the phone without turning on the screen. For example,a simple swipe will activate the device while a double tap will turn the lock screen on and off. Auto Answer allows you to answer a call by putting the phone to your ear without touching the screen and is a handy tool if your hand are dirty. The company has borrowed many features from Samsung which includes Gesture Control,Flip to Mute and Hands-Free Calling.
