BBM coming soon to Android 2.3 Gingerbread devices

Android 2.3 Gingerbread might be 3 years old but it's widely used on number of devices and keeping that in mind Blackberry has added support for the aging Android 2.3 Gingerbread which stills runs on 21.2 % of the devices.Earlier the app was compatible with only devices running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or higher.
"We've got some exciting BBM news for Android Gingerbread users - you've been asking and we've heard you loud and clear. We're now pleased to announce that BBM will soon also be available on Android Devices running Gingerbread (v2.3.3+)," -Jeff Gadway, head of product and brand marketing of BBM
The company has been testing the app internally and is now moving to a external beta ahead of the official launch next month.The app will be available for device running Gingerbread 2.2.3 to 2.3.7.The app was launched for iOS and Android back in October 2013.BBM gained 20 million after it's launch on iOS and Android resulting to total user over 100 million.The company is also set to launch it's BBM channels and BBM voice on iOS and Android.The company says launching BBM on Windows Phone will be 'too small' for the company and also says it is due to the lack of consumer demand.
