HP has announced its first new Android phablets or voice tablets that include the HP Slate ⁶ and Slate⁷ voice tab which will be available in India from February whereas pricing is not announced yet though they are thought to be very affordable.It is isn't a surprise as considering that HP CEO Meg Whitman confirmed a few months ago that they would be back in the smartphone market.

HP is looking to focus on the Indian market with voice tablets and they have not announced plans for other countries.HP's press release doesn't reveal much specs of the device. Both the devices have 720p IPS  display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.Both are powered by unspecified quad-core processor and come with 16 GB of internal storage which can be expanded via micro SD card upto 32 GB.They run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.Both the devices come with 5-megapixel rear cam and 2-megapixel front cam for video calls.The Slate ⁶also comes with an LED Flash and both the HP Slate ⁶ VoiceTab and HP Slate⁷ VoiceTab come equipped with a 3G Dual SIM support.The Slate⁶  VoiceTab is 8.98 mm thin while the Slate⁷ VoiceTab is 9.5 mm thin and both feature a premium pixilated, scratch-resistant carbon fiber case.HP already sells a variety of Slate tablets that don't come with voice support.

Both the devices would have to face tough competition from Asus Fonepad 7,Galaxy Tab 3 211 and others.It would be interesting to see what these slates offer when they are launched.But would you like to carry a 6 or 7-inch tablet in your jacket?
