It sports 5.9-inch screen Full-HD IPS display with Gorilla Glass 3 cornering which gives it a 373 PPI,a bump from the last year's Optimus G Pro which had 5.5-inch screen. It is still far from the device from which has biggest screen in the market which is Sony's Xperia Z Ultra with a massive 6.4-inch screen. It is powered by 2.26 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with 3 GB of RAM.Till now the Galaxy Note 3 was the only device which came with 3 GB of RAM and had a Snapdragon 800 processor but the G Pro is here to fire up the competition against the Galaxy Note 3.It runs on Android 4.4 Kit-Kat out-of-the-box and comes in 16 and 32 GB of storage which can be expanded via micro SD card though LG has not mentioned the maximum capacity of the device. The device comes with 3,200 mAh of battery which is non-removable and also supports 4G LTE for connectivity. The device borrows the rear mounted volume and power from the G2 which was launched in 2013.It comes with 1W speaker which according to LG is 30% louder than the original G Pro.It has slim bezel of 3.3 mm and offers screen-to-frame ratio of 77.2%.The device will be available in Titan Black,White and Silver.
It comes with 13-megapixel camera with OIS+ (Optical Image Stabilization) which is the spotlight of the device. It can also record 4K UHD videos for 4K TVs and can record 720p videos in 120 FPS and allows editing of video in three different speeds — one-half slow motion, one-fourth slow motion and original.LG has also added a host of features built into the camera app such as: Magic Focus,Natural Flash,Flash for Selfie,Burst shot and Gallery Collage among others. There is 2.1-megapixel front camera for taking selfies.
Knock Code is an example of LG bringing simpler, more convenient solutions to consumers’ mobile lives.Whereas in the early years of smartphones it was a contest to see how many features could be stuffed into the phones, our researchers took a long, hard look at how consumers were really using their devices in their daily lives and included just the most useful UX features. We think customers will agree.”-Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.Another interesting feature of the G Pro 2 is it's enhanced Knock On feature with Knock code which allows owners unlock the device using one of the 86,367 knock combinations on any area of the screen even if the display is off by using two to eight taps.LG says it's lets user unlock their device without even looking at it.Other features include: Content lock which provides users more security with the ability to lock files, photos, videos and memos with a unique password,Mini view which allows users to use the device with one hand by shrinking the display to a size ranging from 3.4 inches to 4.7 inches, depending on the user’s preference and Dual browser which divides 5.9-inch screen into two separate browser windows to surf the internet conveniently.
LG has not provided the availability and pricing of the device outside Korea yet.LG will showcase the device during MWC later this month. The device will face tough competition from the Galaxy Note 3 and the Sony Xperia Z Ultra and both have nearly 6-inch screen. What do you think of the device?
