Nokia launches it's Verizon exclusive Lumia Icon in the U.S

Nokia today has launched it's Lumia Icon smartphone which exclusively available for the Verizon Wireless network in the U.S.The device had leaked many times earlier. The device features almost the same specs as the Lumia 1520 phablet but comes with more smaller and pocketable screen.

It comes with 5-inch Full HD AMOLED screen with Nokia's own ClearBlack technology. It comes with Gorilla Glass 3 cornering and has resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels which give it around 441 PPI.It is powered by a 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 with 2 GB of RAM also found in Lumia 1520 and flagship devices like the Galaxy Note 3.It is the fastest processor in the market currently. It runs on the latest Windows Phone 8 with Lumia Black and comes in 32 GB of internal storage which is unfortunately cannot be expanded.Nokia has given 7 GB of free SkyDrive cloud storage to solve that problem. It comes with NFC to transfer files between devices and also supports 4G LTE for connectivity. The device supports Wireless charging which is general for flagship Lumia devices.
On the back you will find 20-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and comes with Nokia's Pureview technology. It has a dual-LED flash and comes with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) for taking better images while a 1.2-megapixel which does 720p video recording.

Another interesting feature of the Lumia Icon also found on the 1520 is it's four microphones, generally smartphones have one or two microphones. There are two microphones on the front which are activated while making calls while the two on the rear are activated when recording a video to capture better sound coming from the subject. The microphones also support noise cancellation so that background noise can be reduced.
Though Nokia has provided powerful hardware but the lack of apps on Windows Phone still remains a major problem with iOS and Android OS dominating the smartphone market. The presence of apps is not that much but the number of apps is growing day by day.

The Lumia Icon will available from February 20 at Verizon Wireless store and online at price of $200 (Rs.12,484) on contract for two year and $550 (Rs.34,331) without a contract.Nokia is offering a free Nokia Wireless Charging accessory for those that purchase before March 16,2014.What do you think of the device?
