Motorola and Google has finally revealed the long-rumored Nexus 6 on Wednesday.The phablet was announced alongwith the Nexus 9 and Nexus player to compete with the Apple TV and iPad mini.
The Motorola-Google Nexus 6 (internally known as "Shamu") features a 5.96-inch Quad HD AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1560 pixels and pixel density of 493 PPI.It display has Gorilla Glass 3 protection and a 16:9 aspect ratio.
It is powered by 2.7 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor bundled with 3 GB of RAM.This is the first time,Google and Motorola have used such a powerful processor in a device.It is the same processor found in Samsung's newly launched flagship device,Note 4.For gaming fans,the Nexus 6 comes with Adreno 420 GPU for cutting-edge graphics.
The device comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with Auto-focus and dual LED-flash.The rear camera also comes with Optical Image Stabilisation and 4K video recording at 30fps.The phablet also comes with 2-megapixel front facing camera for selfies.
It comes with 32/64 GB of internal storage and runs on latest version the Mountain View company's OS,Android 5.0 Lollipop which is claimed as the "sweetest release yet".
The phone packs in a mammoth 3,220 mAh of battery which Google claims can provide upto 6 hours of usage on just 15 minutes of charging and 24 hours of usage on a full charge.It provides upto 24 hours of talk-time and 330 hours of stand-by time (with ambient light sensor off).And the Nexus 6 supports Wireless charging too.
The Nexus 6 also comes with dual-front facing speakers for a "immersive stereo sound" and is water resistant according to Motorola.The device will be available in Midnight Blue and Cloud White colors at starting price of $649 for the 32 GB and $699 for the 64 GB without a contract.
The Nexus 6 will be available for pre-order in late October and in stores in
November with an option to buy via a monthly contract or installment plan through carriers in the US that include AT&T,Sprint,T-Mobile,U.S. Cellular,and Verizon.
Google says that specific carrier rollout timing will vary.Motorola claims that the device will come to 28 countries (including India) across Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America starting later this year.While T-Mobile claims that the device will join its lineup on November 12.Currently,We can except the Nexus 6 to available in November as Google and Motorola has not given a specific date for it.
